Process Introduction: Use nitric acid as decomposition agent to decompose borax ore, first produce boric acid through filtration, purification, cooling, crystallization, dehydrating, washing and drying, then dispose boric acid mother liquid to get sodium nitrate. Recycle the secondary mother liquid obtained from separation of sodium nitrate in acidolysis batching. Mother liquid disposing process does not need evaporation.
Technical Advancement: The common practice is to use nitric acid to dispose industrial borax and prepare boric acid and by-product sodium nitrate, and the cost is too high. This process takes natural borax ore as raw material to produce boric acid and by-product sodium nitrate, substantially reducing the production cost. At present, China has not had the report concerning preparing boric acid with single-step method by using nitric acid to dispose natural borax ore.
Market Prospect: Chinese total annual demand for boric acid is above 310,000t, domestic boric acid is constrained by quality factor, its application is limited in solar energy, medicine glass and other industries, and domestic market demand for high quality boric acid has increased year by year. The present high quality boric acid is mainly imported, having relatively high sales price, stable market, considerable profits and broad prospect.
Product Quality: Boric acid is in conformity with GB538-2006 standard; and sodium nitrate is in conformity with GB/t 4553-2002 standard.
Equipment Investment: 5000t/a is 2.8 million Yuan, and the scale can be determined according to the actual situation.
Environmental Protection: Particular environmental protection measures have been taken, so the production process does not discharge effluent or exhaust gas. The generated boric sludge can be comprehensively utilized, so it does not have obvious impact on the environment.
