            Technology of Evaporation-free Preparing Boric Aci

            I. Technical Background: 

            At present, when preparing boric acid with industrial borax, nitric acid process and sulfuric acid process are commonly used in China. Nanyang Pengmei Industrial Technology Research Institute developed the production technology of using sulfuric acid to dispose borax ore and directly prepare boric acid in 2008 and smoothly accomplished industrialization in 2009. However, nitric acid borax process, sulfuric acid borax process, and boric acid preparation process of disposing borax ore with sulfuric acid need to evaporate mother liquid. While ensuring the yield, produce by-product - sodium nitrate or sodium sulfate, so energy consumption in the production process is relatively high. Individual enterprises do not evaporate mother liquid but partially discharge mother liquid, thus resulting in serious loss of boron, and the yield level is below 70%. If boric acid is produced with 28% grade borax ore, ore consumption per ton is more than 2,700kg.

            II. Features of this Process: 

            Using sulfuric acid to dispose borax ore or industrial borax and prepare industrial boric acid by-product sodium sulfate is featured by free of evaporation and concentration, little equipment investment, low energy consumption, good boric acid product quality, low production cost and significant economic benefits, belonging to the newest process that uses sulfuric acid to dispose borax ore or industrial borax and prepare industrial boric acid in China.

            III. Production Principle: 

            Make borax ore react with sulfuric acid, with the existence of aid, control certain temperature and process conditions, respectively output boric acid and sodium nitrate. Implement separation, washing, whirling, drying and packaging for boric acid from sodium nitrate to produce high quality industrial boric acid and sodium sulfate product. The technological process does not need evaporation.

            IV. Product Yield and Quality: 

            B2O3 yield is above 95%, and boric acid product quality is in conformity with international standard. Sodium sulfate yield is above 85%.

            V. Main Economic and Technological Indicators: 

            Consumption for producing t boric acid: borax ore (grade 28%) 2,280kg; sulfuric acid 550kg; electricity 100kw·h; and coal 200kg.

            VI. Equipment Investment: 

            Annual production is 5,000t, and equipment investment is about 2.5 million Yuan. Transformation of the old factory does not need any additional investment, only need to adjust process conditions.
